One look at this 35-pound American Staffordshire Terrier Mix, and you can tell he has a personality just about as big as his brut-like size! If you’re looking for the perfect mix of energy and chill and the type of pup that loves to play hard and nap harder, Buddy might be your guy!
This happy dog is currently spending his time at a rescue center in Lancaster, Ky., called Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue. Before arriving, however, he was staying at a rescue center in Bell County, where his journey nearly had an entirely different ending.
We’ll explain more about Buddy’s near-heartbreaking journey, but first, let’s talk about his personality, social skills, size, and what we know about his breed:
As Luck Would Have It
When Buddy came to the Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue Center from the shelter in Bell County, crews were originally there to rescue a few other dogs, but the shelter director told them something they couldn’t shake.
Buddy was on the list to be euthanized that very day. The rescue center team said they took one look at him and knew they had to scoop him up. His life was not meant to be cut so short. At least, not on their watch.
It seems this Staffy Mix with “pot roast on sticks” frame, as staffers describe him, was destined for a second chance, and we think so, too! After all, he’s an adorable dog with a silly streak and a heart full of love!
Maybe you are the reason Buddy was spared that day. His story is bound to have a happy ending, and maybe… just maybe… you are the perfect person to be a part of it.
Buddy Is The Best … Buddy!
Even more of a reason to consider inviting Buddy into your family? He’s described as affectionate, friendly, playful, and smart! He’s house-trained, his vaccinations are up to date, and he’s been neutered.
Buddy is a funny one, too! It’s said he “loves the lady dogs,” but is more selective when it comes to enjoying the company of his fellow male buddies. Hey, no judgment here!
Saved For A Reason
It’s sad to think Buddy was just moments away from missing out on all of the little things that dogs like him love; things like playing in the grass, enjoying the sunshine, chewing on his favorite toys, or simply enjoying human companionship in a loving home.
Unfortunately, many dogs in shelters all across the country are euthanized because of overcrowding, as there simply isn’t enough room to keep them all. While fostering a dog is an option, many dogs sit at rescue for quite a while before being adopted.
We are so grateful to the Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue Center for having the big hearts that they do. Buddy is destined for great things, and we can’t wait to see where his journey leads.
