As gentle as can be, Hope, an Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler and Mountain Cur Mix, is what you might call a love bug, and her personality tells us why. She adores kids, gets along with other dogs, and has plenty of affection to give.
Hope’s journey to Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue in Lancaster, Ky., however, was not traditional. You could say that Hope “found the center instead of the center finding her.” She lived in the woods nearby with her puppies, and after the staff tried to catch her for about six months, Hope finally gave in.
So why was she there, and what happened next? Before we dive into the next part of Hope’s story, let’s discover more about her personality, social skills, size, and what we know about her breed:
A Story of Hope
Quite literally! If there ever was a dog who lived up to her name, it might be sweet Hope. You see, while it took some time to catch her, Hope finally came to the rescue center staff, on her own, when she was ready.
As the team with Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue tells us, they sadly believe someone dumped her and left her there. It’s hard to believe someone would do that to any dog, but Hope… was hopeful.
Hopeful that someone would find her, rescue her, and keep her and her puppies safe. Her ultimate hope? Finding her fur-ever family. That’s her hope today. Maybe that someone is you!
A Heart Full of Love
It’s no surprise that Hope exudes a gentle, motherly nature in everything she does, so, if you’re looking for a loyal and loving dog to add to your family, Hope could be the perfect fit.
Thankfully, her puppies were given a forever home by some of the center’s neighbors, and as they tell us, “Now, it’s Hope’s turn.” Hope adores kids, gets along with other dogs, and you can tell she has a kind heart just by looking into her soulful brown eyes. All dogs need love – to feel wanted and needed, and it’s the same for humans, too.
Once literally tossed to the side of the road, Hope is hoping for a new beginning and a new chapter in her story. She knows there are so many people in this life who care, and if given a chance, she’ll show you her gratitude right back.
A Ray of Hope… and Sunshine, Too!
So what is Hope like… really? Let’s break it down for you! She’s affectionate, gentle, friendly, loyal, playful, and smart. The list goes on and on with this one! Even more?
She’s house-trained, her vaccinations are up to date, and she’s spayed. She does well with other dogs, too, so if you have other furry friends at home, she’ll be good to go. Talk about the perfect housemate!
Is Hope Your Girl?
Unfortunately, Hope’s story is one of a kind. From being dumped and left on the side of the road to now thriving, she gives us all a reason to overcome our hardships in life and move forward.
Despite having a rough start where she felt like no one cared, she now knows life can be different… and better… that there really is hope for her, and that there’s a family waiting to meet her – she just hasn’t met them yet.
