Meet Buck: The Ultimate Gentle Giant Searching For His Forever Family

If you like to cuddle, there’s a dog named Buck who’s pretty much an expert at it! With a heart as big as his size, Buck, a Cane Corso Mix, is one of the sweetest and most affectionate dogs there ever was. If you’re ready to have a 4-legged friend to love who will love you right back, this 65-pounder is your guy!

Buck, also known as a cuddle bug, is currently spending his time at a rescue center in Lancaster, Ky., called Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue. His journey hasn’t been easy, as this lovable boy had to be surrendered by his mom after she needed to seek safety in a women’s shelter. Despite her best efforts, she couldn’t find him a home, and that’s how he ended up in the rescue center. 

There’s more to Buck’s story, but first, let’s talk about his personality, social skills, size, and what we know about his breed:

A Story of Strength

As the team with Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue tells us, Buck was deeply cherished by his mom, and she surrendered him to the center so he could have a chance at a wonderful life and be given the love and stability that he deserves.

We know Buck would love his mom even more for making the decision to put him first, despite how heartbreaking it was to let him go. So, Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue made a promise – a promise to find Buck a forever family that would love him just as much as his mom did. Maybe you are the perfect person to fulfill it! 

Be Prepared To Get Smooshed!

If there’s one thing Buck doesn’t realize, it’s his size! His favorite place will inevitably be right by your side or even in your lap, as he’s never met a cuddle buddy he didn’t love! Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue describes Buck as a “velcro dog,” meaning he’s happiest when he’s glued to your side. Aww! 

With just one look into Buck’s kind, brown eyes, it’s easy to see that he is a gentle soul and a dog who longs to be loved; a sweet, and loving canine companion who is looking for his forever family and to spend his days in a comfy, warm home surrounded by the humans that he adores. 

Dogs like Buck don’t need the fancy things in life. Instead, they long for simplicity. Things like going on walks, playing in the park, tossing a ball around, or laying on the couch with you by their side are enough for them.

Buck reminds us of what’s important in life and how strong we can all be, despite the setbacks or heartbreak that we may face in our journeys. 

Bring On the Kids and Dogs!

Despite his past and everything he’s gone through, Buck remains sweet and loving, hoping for someone to give him belly rubs and pets on a daily basis and to make him feel like he’s a part of a family who is grateful for him, too.

Current Treatment and “Need to Knows”  

Right now, Buck is being treated for heartworm, so the staff at Fields of Freedom Dog Rescue is spending extra time with him in his kennel, giving him lots of love to keep his activity level low. He’s on the road to recovery though and should be back to his normal self soon!

Even more? Buck is already neutered, up to date on his shots, and did we mention he’s a fan of other dogs? Yes! Buck loves his other doggy friends and is playful and friendly to them all! 

Dogs like Buck enjoy exercise like walking, running, and playtime, and since he’s a large dog, he’ll need a good amount of space indoors and outside.
